Recent photos from monotype printmaking sessions- getting ready for an upcoming showing at Stumptown Coffee, on SE Division.
I'm excited to announce a new page on the website, dedicated to displaying my recent sketches.
I rarely publish my sketchbook drawings, because they are very personal to me. Recently I've begun a new practice however and am happy to share this project with you. In an effort to cut back on using my iPhone, I've been focusing on drawing more in my sketchbook. One thing I immediately started to focus on was the unique positions that individuals hold and interact with their own smart devices. These moments present themselves in almost all situations in my life - on the bus, waiting for tacos at a food stand, sitting at a bar, standing in line for the restroom, ect. ect. the list is endless. What is wonderful as well is how my subjects are often so captivated by their screen, it makes a great observational drawing because they don't move and they rarely notice you drawing them. Not certain where this will go, if it will develop into a series of paintings - maybe monotypes - or perhaps even a book. This activity has been rewarding however, and my skills at drawing from life are improving day by day. VERGE PDXHappy to be showing for the next two months at Flickrbox, in downtown Portland. Thank you Verge for the opportunity!
